Science is often referred to as a field of curiosity, exploration and invention. It enables us to make sense of the individual stars scattered across the sky, plants pushing through the ground, or our own hearts beating in our chests. Yet for many students, science is not a subject that contains wonder and magic. Instead, it becomes a source of fear, confusion and intimidation. the fear of science logically prevails, however we dont like to admit it and its quietly eroding students’ confidence, performance and even future profession.

At that point, they are essentially thinking like little scientists without even realizing it. But somewhere between childhood and adolescence, this inquisitive nature languidly transforms into fear. The classroom environment can also make things worse. if a teacher moves too fast or does not encourage students to ask doubts, many students feel left behind.Insome classes, when a student gives a wrong answer, other students laugh. Even small incidents like this can hurt deeply. Fear does not appear suddenly; it grows slowly inside. Soon, science becomes the subject they fear the most and try to avoid whenever possible.

Why Science Scares Students and How to Overcome It

Exams add even more stress to the situation. Science exams usually require long explanations, proper diagrams, correct labeling, and exact answers. A small mistake can cut many marks. Students begin to connect science with red marks on their test papers and disappointment at home.instead of seeing mistakes as part of learning, they see them as proof that they are failures. this kind of thinking makes the fear even stronger.

but it is important to understand that fearing science does not mean a student is incapable. In fact, many students who struggle with science are creative, imaginative, and talented in many other areas.The real issue is not their ability but the system and pressure around the subject.when science is taught through experiments, real life examples, and open discussions, students react differently. They start to see how science connects with their daily life, from cooking food to using a mobile phone.
